How I work

At Rebecca Simpson Physiotherapy, I am committed to improving your life, and supporting you to be your best. For physiotherapy clients, that starts with your assessment. My assessment time is 1 hour. Many other clinics offer 40-45 minutes, but I believe that to really get to know you, and start helping you at that first session, we need time to get to know each other, and for me to understand your needs. You will be offered a blood pressure check. High blood pressure is often unrecognised, and a simple check in clinic can help us understand if further review by your GP would be helpful. Following your assessment, I will clearly explain my findings, and invite you to ask as many questions as you want to. Understanding what is going on is key to you being an active participant in your recovery and optimising your function. We will then devise a management programme together, that will usually incorporate some exercises that you can continue at home. These have photos and a clear explanation, and can be printed, emailed, or put on a free app - or any combination of these! We will then arrange a suitable follow up time to review your progress, and adapt your treatment as required.

With scar therapy clients, I will ask you about your scar, and what you are hoping to achieve from treatment. Early management of scars is ideal, but changes can also be made to mature scars. We cannot make the scar disappear, but we can try and make them more functional, comfortable, and improve their appearance.

Massage clients will also be given a brief assessment prior to the massage being carried out, to determine the reason for the massage. Some want therapeutic massage to optimise their condition, and some like to attend for relaxation; my choice of techniques will be chosen accordingly.

Some of my clients like to keep in touch for maintenance sessions; I really enjoy getting to know clients and their families, and am only too happy to meet these needs as required.
